Vehicle trackers need consistent connectivity across the areas vehicles travel through, which is exactly what multi-network roaming provides. Our dynamic IP roaming SIM cards from £2.20/month roam across O2, Vodafone and EE, with data pooled across your whole fleet and a free management portal to monitor usage.
Coverage that follows the vehicle
Unlike a fixed installation, a vehicle tracker’s coverage requirements change constantly as the vehicle moves. A single-network SIM is exposed to every coverage gap that operator has across the routes your fleet travels – rural roads, certain motorway stretches, areas with weaker indoor coverage at depots. A multi-network roaming SIM connects to whichever of O2, Vodafone or EE is strongest at the vehicle’s current location, smoothing out these gaps without any configuration on the tracker itself.
Sizing data for trackers
GPS trackers typically transmit small packets of data – location, speed, heading, ignition status – at intervals ranging from every few seconds to every few minutes depending on configuration. Even at frequent intervals, this data is small enough that most trackers fit comfortably within a 1GB or 2GB monthly allowance. If your trackers also relay dashcam footage, driver behaviour data, or temperature readings from refrigerated units, data usage will be higher – our data allowance guide has worked examples for different device types.
Managing a fleet of SIMs
As fleets grow, keeping track of individual SIMs – which are active, how much data each is using, whether any have stopped reporting – becomes important. Every SIM includes free access to our online SIM management portal, giving a single dashboard view across your whole fleet, with data pooled across all SIMs on the account so unused allowance on quieter vehicles covers busier ones.
